| Lynda Shenkman Curtis has photographed people in a variety
of situations for over 25 years. A graduate of M.I.C.A
(The Maryland Institute College of Art) in Baltimore,
Lynda established her Oxygen House Photography Studio in
Pleasantville, New York in 1999. Her business has grown
consistently since that time through personal referrals and
word of mouth.
Lynda’s journalistic approach to photography lends
a natural style to life cycle events such as weddings and
Bar and Bat Mitzvahs. She captures the special day as it
unfolds, gracefully, without the intrusion so common with
many event photographers.
Official photographer to the prestigious Jacob
Burns Film Center, Lynda has documented the comings
and goings of the many filmmakers, actors, writers and
other celebrities that have passed through its doors since
its founding in 2001. She is equally adept at portraiture
on location and in the studio, and has photographed such
diverse subjects as the on-air staff of the public radio
station WFUV and
the corporate officers of Heineken
USA. She is often called upon by Sunburst
Visual Media and the Westchester Arts Council for
portrait work and to document fundraising galas.
An avid outdoor sportswoman, Lynda is currently working on
a project recording her experiences amongst her fellow Hudson
River kayakers. She exhibited a portrait series on weightlifters
as part of “Devotees of Exertion”, an exhibition
which earned her an impressive review in The
New York Times. |
